To begin, you'll speak with our team about how you honestly feel about your smile. What are the issues or imperfections that make you feel self-conscious? What would you change? What are the parts you like and appreciate about your smile?
You will then get a comprehensive oral exam to identify any issues that may disqualify you from a particular treatment. Cosmetic dentistry should only be performed on healthy teeth. If you require any restorative work, your dentist will let you know at this time.

Once we've examined your mouth and discussed with you your problems and preferences, we'll provide you with a recommended treatment plan. There are many different ways to restore a smile, so we may provide several options and let you choose which best suits your lifestyle, budget, and priorities.

Once you've agreed on a treatment plan that works for you, we’ll help you schedule your treatment appointments. We can also discuss payment options with you at this time.

VERSATILE SMILE RESTORATION. Implant restorations can be used to replace one tooth with a crown, multiple teeth with a bridge, or a full mouth of teeth with implant-supported dentures. Implant restorations look, feel, and function just like real teeth. No matter how many teeth you’ve lost, you may be a good candidate for treatment with dental implants and an implant restoration.
LONG-LASTING RESULTS. When you care for them properly, your dental implants and your restorations could last decades. This is much longer than alternatives like dentures and traditional dental bridges, which makes implants a great long-term investment.
MINIMAL SPECIAL CARE. If you get a single-tooth restoration with a dental crown, you can just treat it like a normal tooth, and it’s easy to care for implant-supported bridges and dentures, too. This makes your life more convenient.

Once you’ve been approved for treatment, your doctor will schedule your oral surgery appointment and provide a surgical plan. During the surgery, your dentist in Flagstaff will make an incision in your gum tissue to securely place a dental implant in the jaw. Next, the area will be cleaned and sutures will be placed to begin the healing process.
Healing & Osseointegration
Your gums and jawbone will begin to heal once your implant has been placed. After 1-2 weeks, the incision site will be healed, but it will take 3-6 months for the implant to permanently bond with your jaw bone through a process called osseointegration. To ensure you are healing properly, we will see you for a couple of check ups during the osseointegration process.
The final step in the implant treatment process is the restoration. Your restoration, or prosthetic dental crown, will be custom crafted to match your smile and securely affixed to the titanium implant. Once your new tooth is in place, your smile will be complete!

"Everyone at Cedar Avenue Family Dentistry is phenomenal. Debra's very professional and courteous at the front desk. Maddie is a fantastic assistant. She took me right back and made sure to explain everything to me. Dr. Chittenden took the time to answer all my questions and is a very careful dentist. My visit was quick and pain free! I had a crown placed and I was out the door in 15 minutes. Highly recommend this practice"

"The moment I walked through the door I could tell I was in the right place. (I’ve had 38 years in dentistry myself and retired 3 years ago). Cedar Avenue Family Dentistry showed empathy, professionalism and concern about what I wanted from them!!! My concerns were their PRIMARY focus and they spent extra time getting to know me! Extra gentle and extra caring. Wonderful staff. Easy everything! Wonderful experience and I will definitely encourage everyone I know to give them a chance because they’ll not disappoint!"

"Cedar Avenue Family Dentistry is Amazing. When looking at the business name, many people see Dentistry. However, after you have been seen and cared for, another word starts to show...the word FAMILY. The staff is compassionate and loving and will take care of you. I highly recommend Cedar Avenue Family Dentistry."

If you leave a tooth out of your mouth for too long, the bone begins to reabsorb making it difficult and expensive to put in a new tooth.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who is a good candidate for Veneers?
Anyone can get veneers! As long as you have teeth and healthy gums, veneers are an excellent option for improving smile appearance and function. Missing teeth may need additional solutions such as implants or bridges, and teeth that are broken or decayed may need crowns or root canals. These treatments can be done in combination with veneers to create a smile that is both healthy and beautiful. We recommend that patients maintain good oral hygiene, attend regular dental visits, and treat dysfunctional issues like bruxism (teeth grinding).
When should you get veneers?
Porcelain dental veneers are an aesthetic and functional solution for a variety of dental concerns. Veneers are used to:
Improve the shape of the teeth
Brighten the smile
Repair chipped or damaged teeth
Improve teeth alignment by straightening or repositioning the teeth
Protect the teeth from sensitivity
Strengthen tooth structure
Improve TMJ or other bite issues
No matter the reason, veneers will make you feel comfortable about showing off your smile. If you feel you have healthy teeth and any of the issues or concerns listed above, it is time to start your veneer journey TODAY!
How do veneers work?
Veneers are thin shells of porcelain that are bonded directly to the natural tooth. Veneers are made to cover the front surface and edge of the tooth to make changes to the color, shape, size, alignment, and overall look of the teeth and smile. Porcelain veneers are individually hand-crafted and custom-made for each tooth.
Because of the expertise, precision, and high quality of the materials used by our ceramist, veneers can last 10–20 years with proper care, and we strongly recommend wearing a custom nightguard after treatment to protect your new smile. There are several things that can be done to increase the lifespan of veneers, including maintaining good oral hygiene habits and attending regular dental visits and check-ups.
Am I a Candidate for No-Prep Veneers?
Most patients with healthy teeth and gums are excellent candidates for no-prep veneers. During your consultation at Dental Haven, we'll assess your smile and determine if this minimally invasive option can help you achieve the confident, radiant smile you've always wanted.
